Bastian Schweinsteiger plays as a midfielder for Bayern Munich. He was born on August 1, 1984 in Kolbermoor, Germany.
Bastian began his professional career in the 2000s. In 2002 Bastian agreed to his first professional contract with Bayern Munich II. For the first two seasons he was a frequent starter playing on the flanks. The German is known for an attacking playing style with the ability to play on both flanks and initiate attacks. Bastian’s skills let the coach actively use him in various attacking positions in midfield, which bore fruits to the team. From 2002 till 2004 Bastian scored 2 goals and played 34 games in the club.
After two successful years at Bayern Munich II, Bastian agreed on the terms with German giants Bayern Munich. Schweinsteiger reached new heights of his career and started training hard and continued his progress. All this was necessary to come up to the level of the top club with the strongest rivalry. Bastian was nearly always included in the starting lineup. Since 2004 he has made more than 275 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 30 goals. Bastian is currently the key player in the club.
In the spring of 2012 Schweinsteiger helped his team to get to the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final. Unfortunately, Bayern suffered a home defeat to Chelsea in May 2012.
In 2004 Bastian was capped 7 times and scored 2 goals for the Germany U-21 team. From 2004 he has played 95 matches and netted 23 goals for the Germany national football team.
